I’m an archivist and oral historian. I combine archival and public history methods to record human experiences, preserve knowledge for future generations, and inspire people through creative media.
I’m a founding partner of Bright Archives, an independent archival production house. We help people and organizations tap into one of their strongest assets—their story. We offer professional archival services alongside storytelling solutions, from archives and records assessments to documentary-style videography and oral history interviews. We understand that the value of archives is often beneath the surface, so we provide a unique combination of archival and media expertise to bring those stories to life.
Earlier in my career, before moving into archival consulting, I served on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University, where I was an Archivist in the University Archives and led several programs, including founding the Oral History Program and overseeing the Robotics Project. I specialize in complex histories and records, with my work involving diverse topics such as experimental film, punk culture, computer science, artificial intelligence, architecture, higher education, and folklore.
I have an MA in Public History from Duquesne University, and I’m a Certified Archivist (CA) and Digital Archives Specialist (DAS). I’m also an active member of the Society of American Archivists and the Oral History Association, where I’m chair of the Membership Committee.
