I’m an archivist and oral historian. I combine archival and public history methods to record human experiences, preserve knowledge for future generations, and inspire audiences through creative media.

Over the years, I have worked with organizations large and small to manage and build archives. I specialize in complex histories and material, and my work has covered topics such as experimental film, punk, computer science, robotics, artificial intelligence, architecture, higher education, and folklore. My recent work examined the research ecosystem of robotics and demonstrated that well-designed archival practices can illuminate a field of scientific inquiry.

I’m a founding partner of Bright Archives LLC, an independent archival production house. We specialize in connecting small to mid-sized entities with archival services and bringing their histories to life through creative media. Before making the jump to start Bright Archives, I held a faculty position at Carnegie Mellon University, where I was Founding Director of the Oral History Program and Lead Archivist for the Robotics Project. I have also worked with Carnegie Museum of Art, the Heinz History Center, the University of Pittsburgh, and other education and cultural heritage organizations.

I have an MA in Public History from Duquesne University, and I’m a Certified Archivist (CA) and Digital Archives Specialist (DAS). I’m also an active member of the Oral History Association and the Society of American Archivists, where I am co-chair of the Committee on Public Awareness. When I’m not working, you can find me gardening, backpacking, skiing, rafting, and enjoying nature with my wonderful husband and two dogs.
